New Members from Quantum Optics

Silke and Christian Ospelkaus with their work groups active in the LNQE.

The Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering is completed with two new appointments from the Institute for Quantum Optics. Prof. Dr. Silke Ospelkaus and Prof. Dr. Christian Ospelkaus were newly appointed in November 2010 by excellence cluster QUEST to Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Silke Ospelkaus is Professor of Experimental Physics and the successor of Prof. Dr. Eberhard Tiemann at Institute for Quantum Optics, who will continue to be active at the Leibniz Universität Hannover in the frame of a “Lower Saxony Professorship” (“Niedersachsenprofessur”). She deals with atomic and molecular quantum gases and ultracold molecules.

Christian Ospelkaus is Professor of Experimental Quantum Optics at the Institute for Quantum Optics. His research focuses on the quantum control of stored ions in terms of quantum information and precision measurements.

Welcome Prof. Dr. Silke Ospelkaus, Prof. Dr. Christian Ospelkaus and group members at the LNQE!
