Change in the memberships

Prof. Rolfes of the Institute for Structural Analysis newly joins.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Raimund Rolfes had already introduced himself to the members at the first general meeting in 2005. The executive board of the LNQE affiliated him unanimously at the board meeting from 11.01.2006. With the Institute for Structural Analysis an institute of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science is represented in the LNQE for the first time. Thus the LNQE comprises now 21 work groups from five different faculties of the University of Hannover.

The Institute for Structural Analysis describes itself in brief as follows:

"Ever since, load-carrying structures were required to be highly functional, cost efficient and environmentally compatible. Likewise, this applies to civil and mechanical engineering as well as to aerospace.

New composite materials, steady increase of computer performance and miniaturization of sensors and electronics decisively influence the development trends for future load-carrying structures. Therefore, these structures will

  • multifunctional
  • lightweight and
  • durable.

The newly founded Institute of Structural Analysis at the University of Hannover, which emanates from the Curt-Risch-Institute for Dynamics, Acoustics and Measurement Technology and the former Institute for Structural Analysis, aims at these strategic objectives. Its research is focussed on the areas of vibrations and composites."
