Science Prize 2016 for Jenny Schneider

Award for young scientist from the Bahnemann Group

The Leibniz Universitätsgesellschaft Hannover e. V. has awarded this year''s Science Prizes to a total of four young scientists, including Dr. Jenny Schneider of the Bahnemann Group of the Institute of Technical Chemistry at Leibniz Universität Hannover. Since 1990, outstanding scientific dissertations at Leibniz Universität Hannover have been honored with the Hannover Science Prize.

In her doctoral thesis, Dr. Jenny Schneider dealt with "nanosecond laser flash photolysis studies to elucidate the photo-induced processes in various TiO2 photocatalysts". It is about obtaining a deeper physico-chemical understanding of the processes involved in photocatalysis with titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide particles with different modification, particle size and crystallinity were systematically investigated in laser experiments. The results of the investigations should make it possible to understand both the properties of other photocatalyst systems as well as to develop new photocatalysts with higher activity and / or excitability in the visible spectral range.

Congratulations from the LNQE!
