EXAM INFORMATION

Regulation on subsequent registration for examinations

In the past, there has been an increasing number of applications for late exam registration. The examination regulations clearly state that each examination must be registered for the current semester within the examination registration period. As a matter of principle, no additional examination registration must be granted. This will be handled very strictly from the coming semester onwards. Therefore, in your own interest, please make sure that you register for the examination properly and in good time.

APPLICATIONS TO THE EXAMINATION BOARD

Applications to the examination board must be sent informally, but signed, to the Programme Coordinator.

If applicable, a certificate (original) must be submitted.

Normally, as a rule, decisions on all collected applications are taken weekly by the examination board. The applications will be implemented by the Academic Examination Office. Students also receive information from the Examination Office on the status of their application. If you have any questions, please contact Mr Janke directly.

In the following some reasons for an application to the examination board are listed as examples:

  • Examination outside the examination period
  • compensation for disadvantages
  • Requests due to PO change:
    • Non-occupancy of QM / ACII
    • Crediting/postponement of module X in area Y (Master's programme)
    • Introduction of overhang points in the area of key competences

RULES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF FINAL THESES

  • A copy of the thesis must be submitted in bound form to the Programme Coordinator, Appelstr. 11A, 1st floor, Room A122, by the deadline at the latest. The paper must contain a declaration of independence. Furthermore, an electronic version in pdf format must be submitted (by email, stick or CD/DVD). Mr. Köhler (Coordination, Room A121) or Ms. Langhorst (Administration Office, Room A120) will take the work by proxy. It will be retained for archiving purposes.
  • For the Bachelor's thesis, an additional copy must be submitted to the first reviewer in due time; for the Master's thesis, two additional copies must be submitted to the first and second reviewer.

RULES GOVERNING THE HEARING PROCEDURE

  • For Bachelor students with a total score of 150 CP or higher, the hearing procedure is suspended. This is based on the fact that the completion of the Bachelor's thesis with 15 CP and the internship with 15 CP may possibly extend beyond a short over the semester limit, but the workload for the final thesis may have been completed in the relevant semester.
  • For Master students with a total score of 90 CP or higher, the hearing procedure is suspended. It is taken as a basis that the completion of the Master's thesis with 30 CP may possibly extend to shortly beyond a semester limit, but that the workload for the final thesis may have been completed in the relevant semester.
  • Students in the first semester of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Nanotechnology do not have to be heard. This is based on the assumption that in the first semester, delayed orientation leads to reduced performance in the course of studies and that, as a rule, the uncounted hearing does not fulfil the function of advice and performance monitoring.
