The areas of work include semiconductor physics and semiconductor technology with a focus on GaN, photonics and optoelectronics with a focus on microLEDs, control of light on the nanoscale, and quantummetrology & nanometrology.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Waag is spokesperson for the Laboratory for Emerging Nanometrology (LENA) research centre at TU Braunschweig, co-spokesperson for the QuantumFrontiers cluster of excellence, and vice-chairman of Quantum Valley Lover Saxony (QVLS). In 2024, he received the Lower Saxony Science Award in Category I (scientists at a university or equivalent institution).
